There haven't been any cases of stolen laptops from what I hear...
Personally, I use a laptop because my handwriting sucks...lol...I carry it to classes and such, plus I've used it around the area recording rehearsals I've been in and such...plus, with you moving every few months, it'd be more practical to just pack your laptop in its case (I use my backpack as a case) than to find boxes to move your desktop around in every year...
