Default Look to the East!

When good ole 'Abe' "freed" us, many moved to the North to seek our fame and fortune with the belief that there was little or no discrimination there. We could mingle with the other folk and be accepted. During that time some of us became 'uppity' and could not believe our "cousins" in the South would have indoor plumbing. This frame of thinking lasted for a time but we began to move either back to our roots or further North. Many of us decided to enter the military. This is a practice that existed before 1776. Yes, we enlisted with the British Army because they were the only ones "promising" freedom-they lied. Today many are staying away from the military. We have yet to embrace to "look to the East." This is a double edged statement. Some of you will know one side but the other is where you are now? Education can be the East we seek but many think its only for the well to do, white or blacks that have the means to attend. As the sun rises in the East to set the day at its course, we should set a course for the rest of our lives. Remember thousands have died for us to "seek more knowledge." Look and continue to look to the East my brothers and sisters!
