History has it that most, if not all, presidents that are serving during a war or conflict and carries on through elections. That president has been re-elected. Then #1 reason why Bush might be the exception: NOBODY IN WASHINGTON LIKES HIM. THEY RESPECT HIM BECAUSE HE IS IN OFFICE. THE OFFICE OF PRESIDENT GETS MORE RESPECT THAN HE DOES
I
KNOW why I am not voting for Bush. I have been dealing with him for 6 years (2 as Gov. of Texas & 4 years as president) He is only interested in making decisions in his best interest and those in his circle. Bush wasn't supposed to run until this 2004, the reason he ran in 2000 because if he stayed any longer than he might not have lived. Very few Texans and businesses were on his side in Texas. He has gotten better in masking his intentions but I have only seen him make 2 compromise in these 6 years:
1) Top 10%-Similar to Talented 20% here in FL but since Texas
doesn't have a SUS, they are automatically admitted in that
school. Has helped students from small cities get in some of the
state's big name colleges, notably UT (admission 70% from Top
10% in 2003)
2) Tax refunds-They weren't that good because those at the top got
the most relief, but it was better than nothing because he didn't
want to give the middle and lower class anything.
