Hmmm
I would hate for this game to stop. Any rivalry, especially for Black College Football is good for the sport. Rivalry games are more than beating someone 25-0, or 16-15  It is about alumni coming together, seeing old friends, getting some good food, having memories, the after parties, etc.

AD wants Classic on A&T's home turf
http://www.nccu.edu/campus/athletics
By RACHEL CARTER, Staff Writer
North Carolina A&T athletics director Charlie Davis said Thursday that he wants the football rivalry with North Carolina Central to continue -- but would prefer some games be played at the Aggies' home field.
The schools have played in Raleigh for 11 straight years in the popular Aggie-Eagle Classic, but the game is played closer to the campus of Division II N.C. Central than Division I-AA A&T.
"Whenever you have these types of situations where a lower-level team is playing an upper-division team, then that team has all to gain and nothing to lose," said Davis, whose Aggies needed a last-second 50-yard field goal to win 16-15 Sunday.
"I would play them every year," Davis said. "As long as they're a Division II school, I would love to have them right here at Aggie Stadium."
The schools have one more year on their contract to play the game at Carter-Finley Stadium.
Davis said he does not have the power to make any decisions about changing the game's venue. The game contracts are signed between the university presidents, Davis said.
Before this year's Aggie-Eagle, both chancellors, James Ammons at N.C. Central and James Renick at A&T, said they had no desire to move the game from Raleigh.
N.C. Central athletics director Bill Hayes could not be reached for comment Thursday.
The Classic is organized by the Capital Area Sports Foundation. Joselyn Williams, Aggie-Eagle events coordinator for the foundation, said she hadn't heard about Davis' concerns. Williams said negotiations to sign a new contract with the schools probably would begin in November.
This year's Aggie-Eagle drew 27,852 fans inside the gate, an increase of more than 6,000 over the 2003 game. Event organizers changed their ticket policy, charging everyone to enter the parking lot the price of a game ticket, whether they went to the game or not.
Williams said the new policy went smoothly.
The Capital Area Sports Foundation expects to donate $125,000 to each school from the game's proceeds. The schools received $112,500 from the 2003 game.

i don't like Davis as much as the next guy, he's made some dumb ass decisions, and i would hate to see the series end, but beating Central gets old.... i hate to see the tradition get broken, but sometimes things have to change...
|
I swear, Aggies sometimes. . . this ain't about "beating Central" Once you get out of school, you'll realize just how much of a family thing intrastate black college classics are. It's homecoming for many of us. I get to see people from high school (if I still recognize them).
We tailgate with Aggies, Rams, Tar Heels, Broncos, Golden Bulls, Maroon Tigers, Pirates, Wolfpack(ers), Spartans, Demon Deacons, Golden Tigers, Rattlers, Bisons, etc. It's all love.
Your athletic director seems to forget that this is a "classic"; it's supposed to be played at a neutral stadium. I don't hear them saying the same thing about SC State, and our classic consistently draws more than the "Carolina Classic". You all get your name as top-billing, we get a stadium closer to Durham. Seems fair to me.

i know it's all love.... and don't you even get a damn attitude with me... i know it's a family thing... i see all of the family gatherings, and i know fun tailgating is.. you wasted a whole message about this... i can't be a sports fan anymore... part of sports is braggin rights, and part of sports is tailgating... some of my good friends are at Central, NC State, and that's a whole lot of people... i know what tailgating is about, so your stupid lil book on tryin to school me is null and void... i just like mentioning the football game, who died and made you my daddy? this IS a message board and i'll say what i want, as will you
i don't wanna see tradition broken... Davis just sees $$$ and he's forgetting about the tradition this game has had for the last 11 years... i'd hate to see it go... it ain't about beating another team... it's about having a good time... any football fan knows that... good friends go to rivals school... we have different opinion on sports teams... that's what makes it great....
so you're lil "i swear comment" which basically tells me that i don't know ****... you need to sit down b/c i may be 19, but i know a whole hell of a lot of **** on anything... and yeah i took this personally b/c you took a shot at me for no reason... and i ain't appreciate that ****... so i'ma end this w/ a **** you and have a nice day

My comment is double-edged, in that the second part was directed toward your age, but the first part was directed toward many Aggie alumni and students who share the "who cares" attitude. That wasn't an insult on your intelligence bro.. . .I just don't want to see eighty years of rivalry and revelry thrown down the drain. You might have read a lil too deep into that one.
