10 U.S. soldiers dead during Fallujah operations

NEAR FALLUJAH, Iraq Nov 9, 2004 —
U.S. troops powered their way into the center of the insurgent stronghold of Fallujah on Tuesday, overwhelming small bands of guerrillas with massive force, searching homes along the city's deserted, narrow passageways and using loudspeakers to try to goad militants onto the streets. The U.S. military said ten U.S. service members and two Iraqi government troopers have been killed in the operation.

A brief statement said that as of 6:30 p.m. Tuesday local time, the 10 Americans and two Iraqis had been killed "in Operation Al Fajr." "Due to operational security in order to prevent the anti-Iraqi forces and other terrorist elements from gaining useful battlefield intelligence, there could be delays in announcements of battlefield casualties," the statement said.

American Al Quaeda member unmasked?

NEW YORK, Nov. 9, 2004--
U.S. officials believe with a high degree of confidence that a missing Southern Californian, Adam Gadahn, is the self-described American al Qaeda who threatened to kill thousands of his countrymen in a videotape obtained and broadcast by ABC News two weeks ago.

"No, my fellow countrymen you are guilty, guilty, guilty, guilty," the man identified only as "Azzam the American" said. "After decades of American tyranny and oppression, now it's your turn to die. Allah willing, the streets of America will run red with blood matching drop for drop the blood of America's victims."

Obama becomes Nation's 5th Black senator

Illinois’s Barack Obama has become the nation’s fifth Black senator in a landslide victory over his African-American Republican opponent, Alan Keyes.

Obama, 43, a husband and father of three, will become only the third Black U.S. senator this century. Obama won the seat with the help of a diverse voter base and emerged as a national Democratic star following his keynote address at the his party's national convention in July.

In the weeks leading up to Election Day, Obama stretched a 50-point lead over Keyes, a Maryland import, who was brought in to Illinois by the Republican Party to challenge the popular Obama.

Doctor discovers "Orgasmatron"

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., Nov. 9, 2004 -- While Dr. Stuart Meloy was working on a new device to treat chronic pain, he was surprised to discover it could also bring pleasure to his female patients.

While Meloy, an anesthesiologist and pain specialist in Winston-Salem, was putting an electrode into the spine of a female patient with chronic back pain, the woman reported a decrease in her pain and a delightful, but very unexpected, side effect.

"When we turned on the power in this case, she let out a moan and began hyperventilating," Meloy said on ABC News' Good Morning America. "Of course we cut the power and I looked around the drapes and asked her what was going on. Once she caught her breath, she said 'you're gonna have to teach my husband how to do that!' "
