Default Pre- College

I want to go to Pre- College this summer and I heard its a great eXperience and everything but its SOOOO EXPENSIVE. I read the thing and it said it was like 1250 + registration fee 0f $600... and I was really interested in it because I dont have anything to do this summer and I have never visited Hampton before... I just wanted to know if there was anyone on here who had been or knows anyone who went? Whats it like and everything? Any little bit of info helps. Thanks :-)

I went to precollege last year and looooooooooooooooved it! It was worth the money for the expericence you get but i plan on doing it again with out paying (the SMEEP program). Youl'l get 3 credit hours done, have a taste of college life (ill talk more about that in future replies ;-) ) and have fun! You will also gain your reputation from the minute you get there and it will carry on good or bad! Feel free to ask anymore questions!!!!!!!!! :-D

You would get about 3 credits over the summer; one in math, english and another course. They base the math and english on the math and english scores from SAT ACT so if it was low, be prepare for them to try to telll you that it yoy have to take Intro to Math, if it was real low or Pre-Calulus if it was high regardless of the last math you did in high school. In the begininning it was a big rush because stuff have to get registered and in order. A typical day would be waking up crazy early to get ready for class, waiting to get a sink or shower and walking a long way to class, lol. Most people like myself skip breakfast and eat a snack bar.

Its just a touch of regular college life but with a smaller course load. Youll find a big sister or big brother (upperclass men who help out with transportation, party hookups and advice). Guys will be chasing after you but dont think you have to profile everywhere just for them; they will still talk to ya and like you for who you are, well some of them lol. They have so called MANDATORY math labs to help with math course which is good but you could just sign in and leave if you have too but math lab is fun (people crackin jokes and helping each other out). You will probably hang out in the center during class breaks or just to meet up with people and hang out. They have some people that live inthe center all day and thats not cute but it happens. The T.V room is also nice. One downside is that the cafe closes at 6 so if your studing or napping and its 6:30, you order food or grab some fun people to go to the BK by the harbors which is fun but a long walk if you dont like walking lol. BRING strong shoes cus flip flops will get worn down from walkinglol, bring they anyway.

Curfew is 11:00 on weekdays and 1:00 on weekends, and remeber it! I almost had to walk home from a Slim party cus some of my friends got drunk (I dont drink) and a few of us let them get the first ride back. At 12:45 a few of us nearly had to walk back and a fight was brewing lol. Non the less i got a ride from a Q and got there at 1:03 and had early curfew (more about that later).

I havent even stated the half of precollege but if you want to go to Hampton precollege to me is a must! There is a SMEEP program which is precollege for free but mainly for people that are interested in science and math (check out summer programs on hampton). It really gets u adjusted and is calmer. Just besure to get connections with upperclassmen for rides cus walking in the hot sun to a bus stop in downtown hampton will make you sick (like me!)[/list]
