I believe it. I'm not downing my school cus I love it and the AUC to death but the AUC has ALOT of cats who are GAY\BI\DL. At Morehouse we have this thing called crown forum and the guy in charge of providing the official statistics of things of that nature to the government and country was the guest speaker (he's a brother btw). Alot of uneasy faces started looking around the room. I thought it was funny at first but it really isn't all.

Now... lets look at my chances of contracting HIV with some simple statistics...

Scenario:
I'm a straight male involved with a straight woman. She has only had ONE partner. You know nothing about her partners lifestyle and previous sex life, also he hasn't been tested. Now I had sex with her before she was tested. What are my chances of contracting HIV as a result of her partner.

to make things easier lets turn that first stat to 50% instead of 60%.

What we assume to know so far according to the statistics earlier:
1 out of 2 men in ATL are gay/bi and sexually active
(this is an exaggeration because not all gay/bi men have sex)
1 out of 3 have contracted HIV

33% of 50% is a... 16.5% chance of me contracting HIV... :x

This is not to mention his previous partners even if it was a straight relationship with all of them or even other STDS. Of course that 16.5 is not an accurate number but u get the point... the real stat isn't that far away.

We are basically playing russian roulette with our health... right now the odds are in our favor (not by that much) but we as a people have been playing ourselves into thinking we are invincible instead of realizing how vulnerable we are. Maybe god is allowing this to happen because its his way of telling us something...

smh...You all talk about these DL males but there are just as many women who do the samethings.It just proves that no matter if youre gay or str8 bad things can happen when sexually active.The biggest problem is not caring enough to make the person use a condom or buying them yourself.The second problem is the lying...If youre gay ,be gay and stop trying to prove crap to your family and friends.Most of these people dont even like the opposite sex but you can still sex a person you dont like :roll:

on the real...that is a bothering thing for me. I was surprised to find as many dykin chicks where im from...that scared me.

Things happen to everyone and like the person said a while ago..sh*ts been goin on since the dawn of time and what not. Sodom and gamora for the Bible, the Rome Renaissance, in New Testament times (in the roman empire. it was/is all over the world....hell it's a huge problem in Japan, London, and in of course France...

U are right, but many people forget that condoms do not prevent STD's, people can get STD's from oral or anal sex. And no one I know of uses a condom for oral sex, and many don't use it for anl sex either

Listen people. This stuff has been going on for years. Have we really been blind to it or have we chosen to ignore it? Did it really take a book (average one at best) to expose this lifestyle. The reason why the lifestyle is taking over our African-American men(especially in the church) is the same reason we have alot of unwed mothers, divorces, etc. The church has ignored sexuality for so long, now it's literally slapping them in the face. It's a shame to say that these issues (in the past) were never addressed in the church and was always seen as taboo. Well, teenagers were having sex, men were sleeping around on there wives and vice versa, people were becoming more acquainted with self-pleasure. So, why is all this a shock......Sistas? This book not only exposes the "DL" - you call it "DL", I call it undercover gay - brotha, it sheds a light on sistas and their desperation. Many sistas will settle for any man just to have a warm body and that is sad. Everybody sees that something is suspicious about this brotha but you? Unfortunately, me being a person who grew up in the church I saw this stuff going on (musicians, deacons, pastors, elders, bishops) and I was just a kid. I know everybody else saw it so why wasn't anybody saying anything about it. Well, the church was so consumed with the idea of going to Heaven that they weren't paying anthing else any attention. Plus, that stuff was taboo and you couldn't talk about it in the church. Then also, the church has had a problem with judgemental spirits. They judge people before they really know anything about them. Well, I just want to say that I have to love people for who they are, but I don't have to love what they do. Having sex with another man is homosexual intercourse. It's not "DL" brothas or anything else. You have homosexual tendencies and it's just a matter of which desire wins. When you sleep with a man more than you sleep with your wife, you are gay. And when you bring children into this mess it's heartbreaking. Like I said, this is not some new phenomenon just because Oprah had it on her show. I know she's got pull like that, but this is something that has been going on since the Old Testament (Read Leviticus). The question is, when is the church going to stop ignoring it and deal with it the way God wants us to deal with it? Not in a judgemental spirit, but in a loving, long-suffering, patient, gentle, and meek spirit. Don't forget humble, because all of us (people in the church) don't have it together like we think we do. Anyway, I just wanted to make a comment on the material of the book. The book wasn't even that well written and it did ramble at times. It does however bring 21st century exposure to a lifestyle that has existed since the days that Noah walked the Earth. Wake up people, it's there and it's not going anywhere.

This is what we need more true believers. I am refering to the sensitivity that this sista shows. Alot of brothas are on the DL not because they want to be but because they feel like they have to be. The only way healing is going to take place is if there is exspore. The only way that its going to happen is understanding from everyone else.
