My opinion follows exactly what I've said on here before. Most women fall into one of two categories

1) Women who are so fed up and/or so lonely that they'll settle for anything they can get their hands on, as long as there's someone "there".

2) Women who are too concerned about what guys don't do, instead what they accomplish or achieve.

Either case gives me no incentive to being a good man.

With ya'll going back & forth pretty much placing blame on your opposite sex, riddle me this....
Who should be the first to settle?
1) The guy who's a gangster/thug/knucklehead?
2) The ladies who haven't found their "Prince Charming" yet?
3) The nice guy who can't find a "good girl"?

#4 would have been "The lady who likes a thug?", but there doesn't seem to be an issue there.

You all have valid points, putting aspects of each together would produce a reasonable solution.

Who would approach a girl after hearing rhetoric about most men being no good, or not worth your time? Not saying that its the only thing that you speak about, but that type of attitude shows through when someone interacts with you.
with me, if i approach a guy, whether is to talk to him or for us to hang out, i already set in my head and heart that it will not be anything more point blank...that is if i approach them first. and what made you come to a conclusion that i am daring someone to come and talk to me? that is not the case because anyone can dare come and talk to me, but i wont give them the time or chance if i don't think they have what i am looking for in a good man.
a real man would be the one to approach such a girl, why? because he knows that he is not the one to prove her right, but to make her happy and even change her whole mindset about this dilemma. yet again you are right to a certain extent, because i hear a lot of that from my homeboys, bout how i just have that aura that screams, don't even waste your time...lol

i don't think anyone should ever settle because then you are most likely with the person you are not potentially suppose to be with. always aim high and go after what you are looking for and you will find more satisfaction and happiness. now all these people you have listed above have their problems and issues but they all deserve better regardless.

And you just stated the point I was trying to get ya'll to realize, no one should settle. No matter how bad it gets you should never settle and/or give up on your standards.
Now if you have high standards or ones that are unrealistic, then you may want to reconsider some of them. But there are still guys out here without kids that want a decent woman. And there are also women out here that don't want thugs. Things take time.
