I burrently live in minnesota but im from new orleans and i have always wanted to attend Xavier. it's a real nice school and has a beautiful campus. in my opinion its the best school in Louisiana! You get the same campus life as any other hbcu but you get a good education also.

Okay, lemme give you the real scoop. I am a freshman at Xavier, and this is what I can tell you so far.

The campus: Being real, like many other hbcu's, Xavier is in an urban setting (aka the hood'). We are right across from the Gerttown neighbhorhood and we are minutes away from French Quarters. There are houses nestled in between on our campus. So that means on your way to Xavier South for classes you will be walking by people homes.

The campus itself is okay. The newer buildings are nicely built i.e. the NCF Annex (Science building), the Library, the University Center and the LLC and St. Martin DePorres dorms. It is an open campus so people from other campuses and the communtie are likely to be walking around too.

The Dorms: Freshman dorms for females are Katharine Drexel (KD), St. Joseph (St.Joe) and The House of Studies. KD has six floors, the top three floors were previously added a few years ago. The rooms on the first three floors of KD are just like the ones in St. Joe. The rooms are okay spacewise and there is a community shared bathroom on each floor.

The only difference between KD and St. Joe is that KD has elevators and the washers and dryers on are the 1st and upper level floors. St. Joe doesn't have an elevator since it's only three floors and washer and dryers are on all of our floors.

I can't tell you much about House of Studies, only that they are single rooms and u get a sink in your room. Also, this year because of our large freshman class, some of the females lived in the LLC due to a lack of space. The LLC (Living Learning Center) is a female only dorm for upperclassmen. They have doubles an suite with semi private baths.

The Faculty: Most of the faculty I have encountered are very friendly and really care about the students. Most of my teachers have been pretty good with keeping their office hours and staying available to students. And as you all know, Xavier's Pre-Med/Pre-Pharm program is on point here. So for those students, be prepared to work, cause they will push you to your limits and challenge you to succeed.
But like all hbcu's, the only problems you may encounter will probably be with Financial Aid offices and the Registrar.

The Campus: Truthfully, sometimes the campus can be boring. It's not like our yard is jumpin 24/7 or there are always parties on campus. It's 75% females here, so please don't come expecting to find your husband. One good thing though, is that most parties will have shuttles to pick you up to get to the club. For freshman, we do have a 2 o'clock curfew on the weekends. But you can just sign out and come back the next mourning after 6:30am.

I'm sure it's a whole bunch of stuff I can add, but I just don't feel like typing it, so feel free to post up any other questions yall may have.
