Default HU...I'm starting to get scared!

What it do? I have a few questions about Howard University, so if you could help I'd appreciate it. I'll be a transferring sophmore.

1. Why is Howard so slow and always giving me the run around? Everything from my acceptance letter to my housing information has taken forever to be completed...Oh and the housing stuff still ain't done. I'm not tryna be homeless!

2. After reading several messages posted by people I'm starting to get a little scared so...
a)what is up wit the rat situation? Are female dorms infested wit rats? EWW!
b)from what i understand HU is in a bad location, the ghetto, the hood, get my drift...is it really that bad? I grew up in a small town and have lived in several other small towns, where crime isn't that bad. I didn't grow up in rich neighborhoods, but i didn't grow up in the ghetto either...What can i expect and how do I deal?

3. What are the hot spots and who knows how to throw parties... I love to party, but I know when it's time to study also!

4. How long do you have to wait before you can join a sorority? I don't know which one I wanna try to pledge yet, but I know I want to.

Well that's all for now, but THANX in advance to whoever replies!

1. Girl, that's Howard....get used to it. I didn't get my acceptance letter until after I got there. It's not Howard though. It's the administration office. I swear every Howard student will learn or already hates the folks up in there. Don't worry, you won't be homeles though...the information will come soon. I hope! (I haven't even gotten my stuff yet )

2.a. No, females dorms are not infested with rats...at least not mine....I heard about a few being in the Cafe though. That's why I don't eat there. The food is not the best.
b. Howard is not in the best area, that's true. However, you will get used to it. It's not too bad. There is crime everywhere you go, not just in DC or at Howard. Just relax. Think positive not negative. There is no need to be scared.

3. There are going to be so many parties. Everyone throws one!

4. I think you have to wait until your sophomore year to join a sorority, but don't quote me on that.

thanx, that kinda calms my nerves a little. :? Even though it's gonna be different from anything I've ever experienced, I can't wait until August 14. I'm excited. My last school was not for me, I hope Howard will be!

I hope it is for you also. If you ever need someone to show you around or if you need to know anything else...hit me up. Be calm. Just remember, there are many more students in the same situation who are feeling the same way. You are not alone.

Holla!
