I got into Stanford, Howard, Hampton, Spelmen, and FAMU.....
I am having a hard time in deciding which school to go to, I keep hearing good stuff from each and ecvery school but its hard to decide.
My mom wants me to go to Standford because it's an "Ivy Legue"
My cousin is a Hampton graduate and talks on and on about how Hampton is just da bomb.
My dad says Spelmen or Howard....
help..... What should I consider while making a difficult choice???
I am majoring in Law or Journalism by the way.......
Wow! Great schools to choose from. Stanford is always on the Black Enterprise list as one of the best schools for African Americans. It is also included in the Black Excel College Guide. It does have a #1 reputation.
my choice would be between spelman and stanford. i live in DC and i hate where howard is. my sister went to hampton and i hate it. im going to attend spelman and like someone said b4 stanford is good for African-Americans plus its an ivy.
Location: Queens, New York.....goin to school @ Hampton University

I'll be unbiased in this post. You have a good choice of schools to choose from. I really don't see you making a bad decision. Hampton 8) is known for it's Journalism program, and sends a good amount of its students to Law School (I will be one of them in 2 years ). The other HU is in DC, a good location for a law student. Plus, they have a graduate school for Law. I heard Spelman is has a good Journalism program. Plus, it is raked high among the HBCUs (along with Hampton......had to add that 8) ). Standford is what they would call an "Ivy League".....can't argue too much with that. They would have more funding for their programs and more companies would go there to recruit students. The only thing about Standford is it would be more money (but you would probably get more scholarships), and you would be missing that undergrad HBCU experience.
Congrats, it seems like you can pick any name out of the hat and come out a winner

I'm from Columbus too!!! What HS do you attend? Oh, and in regards to your question  , I have a good friend at each of these schools. They all love their school and feel as if they made a good decision. The reason is because it was the right school for them. I encourage you to VISIT each and every one of these schools to find out which is right for you. No one else can make that decision. We all go through this. NO ONE wanted me to go to my school (Spelman) but i visited and knew that there was nowhere else for me. Follow your heart. If you have any other questions the contact info is below . . .
PS: Because Spelman is a college we don't offer as wide an array of majors as other Universities. You can't major in Journalism here. You can major in English, which I have been told can get you to your goal of becoming a Journalist just as well.
