Default Financial AID!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got into Howard Univ (my first choice December 31!!!!!!!!!) and now i dont have to worry about that anymore. The big issue now is how im gonna actually pay for it. I have a 3.6 GPA weighted and 3.3 unweighted but I got a 1020 on my SAT's so I won't be eligible for merit aid. I've been hearing from random people that HBCU's (not specifically Howard) don't give much financial aid so I'm really worried now. So far since im working i've saved up about $2000 which will hopefully get to $4000 by the summer and I'm praying to god that I'll get some type of private scholarship. Is there ANY advice you can give me about what to do next.
HELP!!!!!!!!!!

well I'm SURE you've heard of FastWeb and finaid.org...just make sure you apply for as many scholarships as possible...can you get scholarship money through your job (ask anyway)?? can you do work study at HU? are you in any extracurriculars that offer scholarship money for participation at the university level??...ask around and make as many CONNECTIONS as you can...people who don't meet the minimum requirements for university scholarships often get scholarship money through Alumni, Greek organizations, and other connections at the school...

check this forum out also...the whole College Confidential site has been VERY helpful for me

Financial Aid forum

oh yea...don't forget to PRAY lol

Hey.. I recieved some info from my uncle about scholarships a few weeks ago. I hope its helpful for u... I pasted it below

AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDENTS ARE NOT APPLYING Even if you do not have a
college-aged child at home, please share this w! ith someone who does,
pass this scholarship information on to anyone and everyone that comes to
mind. Though there are a number of companies and organizations that have
donated moneys for scholarship use to African Americans, a great deal of
the money is being returned because of a lack of interest.

No one is going to knock on our doors and ask if we can use a
scholarship.

Take the initiative to get your children involved. There is no need for
money to be returned to donating companies because we fail to apply for
it.

Please pass this information on to family members, nieces, nephews,
friends with children etc. We must get the word out that money is
available. If you are a college student or getting ready to become one,
you probably already know how useful additional money can be. Our youth
really could use these scholarships. Thanks!! * (If clicking on the link
doesn't work, then type in the Web site address manually.)
