Default NBA makes an age limit

The NBA and Players Association agree on a 6 year collective bargaining agreement that includes an age limit of at least 19 years old until you can declare for the draft.

It's about GODDAMN time..

I wish it'd actually been 20, but I'll take it. At least now most kids will do at least one year of college.

Only thing is now some kids are just gonna hold themselves back for one year so they can have an extra year of development/growth in like middle school and high school and be ranked higher on hoopscoop and all those other rankings.

I'm guessing all this will be effective in the 2006 draft.

I know this is supposed to be in the Sports forum... but what the hell is the point..

I agree with Dwayne. and I agree with Travis. But hell I don't care because the Hawks got Josh Smith!!! Really, kids need some time to mature before going into the league, I kinda like the choice.

Some people that came straight out of high school didn't need to mature at all. Example- Lebron James, Amare Stoudamire, KG. I think this extra year of college is necessary because it will help those who do need to mature and MAINLY separate the real talent from those who are not ready. Just think if rashard lewis, stephen jackson, or jermain o'neal had went to college. They would of gained the necessary experience and after around 2 years been ready for the league. And people like Lebron and Amare would of did like Carmelo did: Dominate college for a year and be a top 5 pick. I been wantin a 19 year old age limit for a while. This will eliminate all the young and dumb cats going straight from H.S. Those who chose to go to prep school will obviously be looked down on when they are eligible for the draft because of their choice, and those who go to college will either prove their talent or show they need more time. It's good for the young folk. They need an education.
