I WISH I had some type of scholarship maaaan. I was this close... I only needed two more damn points on my ACT!!! *Sigh* I'm alrite though.

But the minimum scholarship Howard offers is called the Legacy Scholarship... you need between a 26-28 on the ACT and a 3.0 GPA. It covers tuition and fees, which is pretty good because that's the most expensive thing on the Howard price tag. Howard offers other freshman schollys that cover more but it depends on how high your GPA and test scores are. To get a full ride... plus a laptop and some other stuff, you need like a perfect score on the ACT or SAT and a 3.7. So uh, good luck!

You can get more info on Howard's website... look under financial aid. Hope I helped you out a lil' bit.

Yes, the Legacy Scholarship is good. But also check into the Laureate Scholarship and the Gates Milennium Sholarship Program.

There are a lot of Laureate Scholars at Howard and they do not have to pay for ANYTHING...

But even if you don't get a freshman scholarship for whatever reason, there's still hope right? Like the Trustee Scholarship which is open to upperclassmen... you only need a 3.0 to qualify and it covers tuition. Do a lot of people usually get that schoalrship?

Yes, alot of people get the Trustee scholarship. I believe they give it to a certain percentage in each school/college until the funds run out. It is competitive tho, so you would want to make sure you keep the grades up, becuz they start distributing it to the highest GPAs, and once the funds run out...that's that.

But I also want you guys to please please please keep in mind that HU is not the only place that you can receive a scholarship. Don't put all of your eggs in one basket. My entire freshman year was covered by nothing but outside scholarships. There are TONS of people, companies, and organizations out there that are willing to contribute to your education...ESPECIALLY if you are a minority. You just have to take the time out to do your research and look for them. I've heard stories of people that didn't pay a dime on their education, and had so much money back in refund checks that they could buy cars, get apartments, and practically MAKE money off of being a student in college.

Fastweb.com is a nice place to start. But feel free enter "scholarships" into any search engine, and you'll see tons of sites. Oh, and the library isn't a bad place to research either. They have books at most public libraries that have scholarship and fellowship listings.
