Hello my name is Nyeesha and I will be a freshman next year and I was wondering what are some keys to succeeding at Howard. I now everyone talks about success in the social scene but how do you balance the wonderful social scene and making the most of your education. also what are the best place to study, relax or just have fun?
yeah thats a good question..it depends on where you stay at as a freshman, if youre in the annex its hecka quiet so you could stay in your suite if ya wanted...in the quad, YA HAVE TO GO OUTSIDE THE QUAD...you wont be able to concentrate....well maybe if ya go in one of the lounges but there is always someone there....like for me I had to go to founders library to study or either the school of business library..never go to undergraduate library to study because its noisy....the best places to have fun, THERE ARE SO MANY lol ya just have to explore yourself...cause I have discovered so many places its ridiculous...too bad last semester I WAS caught up with a mean math professor who made my that semester hell lol.....to relax...umm the mall lol, the smithsonian museums just to get cultured ya know, the zoo, starbucks, union station, DA YARD again so many places...i guess the main keys to sucess for me was balance...like you have to set goals before hand and stick to them because it is SO EASY to get distracted...there is ALWAYS something going on its ridiculous....
my plan was I would study during the weekdays, and that's all i would do(unless it was something like homecoming week of course lol cause teachers slack up during that week)..and the weekends would be my time to relax and have fun and do whatever....and I would have studied so much during the week usually i didnt need to study on the weekends unless there was maybe a test that monday...but yeah that was my plan...it was just last semester I was stuck so much on studying i forgot to HAVE FUN, so dont get in that mode as well, cause college isnt all about studying and I missed out on the most precious semester of my life, freshmen year  ....repping that 3.88 GPA WOOHOO

Wow your GPA is good but thanks for the help. I am very goal oriented and usually plan thing out ahead of time so I might be alright but I am also very quiet and to myself. I really want to try to meet new people and have fun too. so I want to try and do everything and make the best out of my college experience. also I'm in the Frazier in the Quad so I’ll be hitting up some of other study spots.
another question would be what is the best way to manage your study time? I figured when I get there I'd try to do a little of every class everyday but is their a better way?
its virtually impossible to study for EVERY CLASS EVERY day...because you wont be able to absorb it as much ya know....umm how I did was my MWF classes I would study for those classes every sunday, tuesday, and thursday for those...and for my thursday/tuesday classes I would study every monday, wednesday and possibly if i needed it, every sunday night....i studied like that just so I would be prepared for next day's class and plus it's an easier schedule if you have a test in a class cause you arent veering from your schedule and getting confused...dont worry about meeting people, you'll find your niche especially since youre in the quad, but I was like you as well, but college will make ya a different person lol, and now I have so many urges to go out lol, but ya just have to fight those demons
I will have to absorb that advice when I get to HU. I think I might have a little more trouble when I get to HU about staying on task because I am extremely sociable but I will make it. Just need to surround myself with positive people

Well Mr.Intellect  If You think you are going to have more trouble when you get to HU then you need to figure out your plan now.... I was in those same shoes you were in...I'm too sociable and I didn't know how to seperate my time WISELY...I knew How but I didn't do it WISELY..LOL However, surrounding yourself around positive people is one good thing and just following your heart and gut...when you know and you feel like you need to study then go do it...Honestly, I studied when i had to study but if I would have studied a little bit more than going to Maggie Moo's with a squad of people...then I probably would of had an A in that class instead of a B....you get me :?:
