Default School of B Summer Reading

I just got an informational packet from the School of B. There are three required books. In high school we had required summer reading too(no one did it cause it didn't matter), so im just wondering how serious do they take this summer reading? Should I be taking notes while reading the books?

Are these books good?
- From Slavery to Freedom: A History of Negro Americans
by John H. Franklin

- Succeeding Against the Odds: The Inspiring Autobiography of One of America's Wealthiest Entrepreneurs
by John H Johnson and Lerene Bennett

- The Black Manager: Making It in the Corporate World
by Floyd Dickens and Jacqeline B Dickens

- Work Sister, Work: How Black Women Can Get Ahead in Today's Buisness Enviroment
By Cindy Shields and Leslie C Shields

I'm not in the school of B, so i cannot answer your question...BUTTTTT Those books sound prety darn good....I'm bout to cop the one by the Dickens and the one by the Shields....They sound like they are informative...But yea i would get them and read them for my own pleasure and own knowledge, even if it isn't mandatory.

LOLOLOLOL! Im in the school of B and this is the first time I have EVER heard anything about a summer reading list. I can't even think of any way you could realistically apply those books to anything you do your first year in the school of business. They need to stop it  Truth be known, a lot of the things that are supposedly "required" for first year students is a bunch of crap. I took the math placement test and STILL signed up for the math class I wanted (wasnt supposed to be in there) and I never took the SAT II writing test. Maybe its just me, but I never took the word MANDATORY serious at HU

I bought 3 of those 4 books that i saw on the list that were required.......I read Succeeding Against the Odds in like 4 days (that's the only one that's interesting), but the 2nd book I was reading was The Black Manager....OMG that has to be one of the boringest black books I've ever read.....And now that I just found out that we don't have to read em', I'll take the whole semester to read the other books (Only cuz I paid for em ).
