I agree with what both of yall are saying. I don't want to offend anyone, but I'm STILL getting a safe. I had planned on getting a safe and going to a carpenter (if they are still called that these days) and having some wood or something built around it. I've seen some that end up looking like little nightstands. It looks more discreet. But that safe-in-a-trunk idea sounds better if you're trying to put purses, game consoles, and shoes in. Is there even enough room to put that in your dorm? I know the dorms at Spelman look a lil too cramped for me to put all that up in there...And did your friend get her trunk customized to put a lock on it or do they come like that. Where would you buy a trunk with a lock already on it? I've never seen that.

Well my friend is attending Howard in the fall and he is putting the trunk on the floor of his closet, or right below his bed. He's not sure yet. But he is thinking right below the bed because it is tall enough to be used as a second nightstand. You can buy them with locks. We checked a couple of places for his. We found one at pottery barn. Before we did that we checked online. This website had good ones College Trunks. Protect your dorm valuables with a college trunk.

They even have steel trunks designed with college in mind so people can't break in. His has a second lock that he can connect to the inside of the trunk and then to his bed so that people can't walk away with it.

He needed it for game consoles, but his older sister went to spelman and she used a trunk as well. She needed it for designer purses so they wouldn't get stolen and she had no problem with fitting it in a tiny dorm. But she put a safe in the trunk for jewlery just for extra protection.

YES! That is EXACTLY what I needed! Thank you SO much especially for the link! Now I can buy a smaller safe to fit inside of it. I've seen trunks like those before, but never with a lock on it. They look cute too, like a regular clothes trunk!

Thanks everybody Yall made the upcoming semester a helluva lot easier!

Well not everyone is that paranoid. Most people look for stuff that is easy to steal not things that are going to take time. You could say the same thing about a safe except the opposite. They could just take it and work on the combination in their own spare time. Nothing is 100% security, so it is up to you what type of security you want. Plus she's a girl so I figured if she had any designer purses she probably would want to lock those up as well.

No problem.lol. I've been doing all the college shopping for my friend and I don't even have to go yet. haha. Have fun and do good this semester.
Btw if you have to fly and you have it with you make sure you have a TSA lock or they can break it off to check it. But with a TSA lock they have a security key to check it.

This is true. People steal when it's convenient and with all of the extra precautions my trunk will be loaded with, I doubt anyone will even bother. Plus, they have a cable that connects the trunk to the bed (like people do with bikes) so I'm going to get one of those too. So if I have a C&N trunk (which when I watched the video is superior to most other brands in terms of design and security), WITH a tsa lock, AND a trunk-to-bed anchor, AND a safe inside, I just don't see how much more secure I can get besides having an all-out alarm system! Plus Spelman is a pretty small campus. How is someone going to transport a big ass orange trunk from the dorm to the front gate unnoticed?

Unless I got gov't info or diamonds or somethin in that trunk, I doubt anyone will be fiendin for my stuff THAT hard lol

For any other future students who might be having the same problem, for the best safe/trunk, go to the website in the previous post! ^_^
