Default Is Marching Band a sport

Do any of you think that Marching Band should be considered a sport??
I am a Trombone player and low brass section leader(lieutenant) and I work my section with laps, pushups, situps, crunches, everything(and im the only girl lowbrasser, lol)...but for some reason some people think that Marching band people dont work that hard and dont consider it a sport...I believe that if a group is doing something that requires strenous practice, hard work and determination then it should be a sport...(just like cheerleading is now considered a sport, lol)
so give me feedback ok

Hey, what up! I play in a marching band in the ATL and we are always running laps, working out, sweating, and etc. We PROBABLY work harder than our football team, no scratch that we DO work harder. We get out there and do more work on the field than any football team. We even leave our footprints on the field. We draw the crowd to the games. Band is even all season. It never stops. I still don't think it should be considered a sport though. It's just a very dedicated activity that just anyone can't do.

aight y'all. marching band is certainly a sport. i am a majorette(baton twirler) in my high school band and i also play clarinet during concert season. during marching season the majorettes practice atleast once a day and on tuesdays and thursdays we practice twice a day. we even practice on the weekends after we get off work and after church. i twirl with the best majorette corp(yeah i said it!) in south GA and we do extremely difficult and strenuous tricks. doing flips and cartwheels over and over while having to run around the field isn't a very easy task. but let me get to the point. marching band is very much a sport. it may even be the toughest sport in high school!

Default marching bands

I think it should be considerd as a sport. I am on the drillteam and without the band there is no us. I really appreciate everything that they do. That's the reason why people go to high school games. Nobody really watches the games they look to see what the bands are gonna do. When we're out there dancing, sweating and putting our heart and soul into everything so are they. I give them mad props.

Default Is Marching Band a Sport?

Well I agree with all ya'll I am Saxophone Section Leader in my band even though we don't high step. We still work hard. We Corp Style March (heel-toe). In any band you must have discipline in order to be the best ~Which we Are~. When your team is a losing one. The crowd needs to always be hyped up. While the football team is practicing to lose on the "real" field we are on our practice field practicing to win .....

Holla back at me!

Is doing pushups a sport?

Is doing situps a sport?

Is doing pullups a sport?

No.....While a marching band is a very ATHLETIC thing to do....calling it a SPORT is outright ridiculous.....

I respect all you marching band peeps out there....hell, i even saw DRUMLINE......i cannot sit here, and let you guys call this activity a sport, as athletic which you may be.
