Default Cutting my dreads off

Hey guys, I'am 17 yrs. and now stepping out into the real world? I want to purse a career in business, I have locks to the length of my back- which I've been growing for 2 yrs. I was told in order to fit into the business look and cut my hair and straighten it. Prior to locking my hair I thought of it as just hair, but all the while I've been learning a lot about myself and culture-all because of the locks. What do you guys think/ what would you do?

i dont believe that is true as long as they are neat and occasionally pulled back it shouldn't matter what form your hair is in.

You probably don't have to do it now, but you should consider cutting them off around your senior year. One of my business professors did say that hair is a factor when it comes to corporate america.

yes but i know PLENTY of women who have beautiful locks that are successful and makin money in business....hair only matters if its something outrageous like having blue hair or what not....but locks?? come on now....to many people locks aren't just a hairstyle...its their way of life....thats close to asking someone to stop doin this even if their religion says they should just so they can get a good start in business....thats crazy....
