They are hot! I've been on 3 since 2003! The longest I've been on, was a 7 Day for my honeymoon. I think 7 days is the longest I could go. I was startin to lose track of days and needed a change in scenery.
The formal dining food is GREAT! You just have to be careful of how you eat, all you have to do is ask and it's yours. Ham sammich from room service at 2am?! Done!....bring some chips and cookies too. lol They make it easy to gain weight. Beware of the Lido Deck!
The entertainment varies...Bingo, Vegas shows, Comedy Shows, Magic Shows, there is always something going on! On Carnival, the goal is to win a coveted "SHIP on a stick" lol The rock climbing wall on RC's ships are harder than they look, but fun none the less!
I was only in my room to sleep and to so I didn't need a balcony, window or porthole. Some folk are willing to pay for them, I say if you want one, forget the porthole and go for the balcony. There's nothing romantic about 2 people trying to look out of a hole the size of a paper plate!
If you're not the photogenic type, stay home! They take pictures from right before you get on the ship up until the dinner of your last night! lol They seem to have the best photographers in the world...and prices that are out of it! lol
One last note...Dramamine is a MUST, or the patch! I didn't think I'd get sick but after 1 day on rough water, I wasn't the only one calling the Duke of Earl!

I make sure to pack my Dramamine. I think I OD on Dramamine, but I have fun. I have been on Celebrity about four times they seem to have the most interesting places to go. The longest was two weeks and he couldn't wait until it was over because I was one cranky sista! lol We always got the balcony, which is so awesome. We went through the Panama Canal and I had the best seat in the house! Just to see the countries from the sea is amazing, especially in the morning. I will always go with balcony!
I lose five pounds every time before the trip so that it won't hurt so much. To sort of stay level! lol I always gain weight! It is an awesome experience. It's like being in a hotel at sea.
The shows were great and I don't miss Bingo...ever! I actually won..a shirt, but I won!
My next stop...Alaska!
I have been considering going on a cruise, but wasn't sure. You guys make it seem worth while. I really don't like boats. I didn't go to my prom because it was on a boat. I still ended up doing what I would have done anyway that night, I just wasn't with my class on the boat. Maybe I will try it once, just to see if I like it!!!

I'm glad you don't like boats b/c the captain on my first cruise told us. "This isn't a boat, it's a ship. A boat is what you fish from, this is a ship! So don't call it a boat." lol
But seriously, I think you'll enjoy it. Try a 3-4 day cruise to see how you deal with it.
What exactly is your fear of boats? Motion sickness? Drowning? Need of stability?

My sister is the same way. The trip could be free and she would not go! Scarredy cat!
It is a little frightening to be out there in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by water, and no sight of anything for miles. Oh, the joy!!
